As you might know, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) established a new division, the Division of Arts and Machine Creativity (AMC: https:\/\/amc.hkust.edu.hk\/<\/a><\/span>), on 1 July 2024. This initiative responds to the great challenges and opportunities presented by new technologies, particularly generative AI, in the arts, and aligns with one of the university\u2019s strategic priorities: to fuse technology and humanities.<\/div>\n

AMC is likely one of the first academic units globally explicitly dedicated to the intersection of AI and the arts. Our mission is to be a leading cross-disciplinary center where technology, art, and humanities converge, fostering innovative talents and impactful works that will shape our future. We are proud to leverage HKUST\u2019s strengths in science and engineering, along with its significant investments in high-end computational resources.<\/div>\n

We have multiple tenure-track and teaching-track faculty openings at all ranks (Professor\/Associate Professor\/Assistant Professor\/Lecturer\/Senior Lecturer). We are particularly interested in candidates with an MFA\/PhD degree and proven experience in research and teaching within the following focus areas:<\/div>\n
\u2022 Machine-assisted Art Practice (visual, sound, performing, installation, cinematic arts, etc.);<\/div>\n
\u2022 Critical Studies on Arts and Machine Creativity (art history, media theory, philosophy of technology, etc.); and\/or<\/div>\n
\u2022 Art Management (managerial, legal, and business topics related to AI arts, NFT, etc.).<\/div>\n

Preference will be given to those with experience in integrating new technologies, such as generative AI, with the arts.<\/div>\n
